Allahabad/New Delhi: The city is fast becoming a hub for a lot of stuff -- food, movies and even a number of records. And if we connect all the three things together, we get to talk about one particular event on Wednesday.

Sankalp Restaurant at its SG Road outlet here created the world's largest dosa on Wednesday, and none but India's own superhero, Quickgun Murugun, was present to promote it.

Rajendra Prasad aka Quickgun Murugan was in the city to promotethe longest dosa as well as his film titled Quickgun Murugan -- Misadventures of an Indian Cowboy that will be releasing on August 28 across the country in three languages simultaneously -- English, Hindi and Tamil.

The 32.5-feet-long dosa was made in 5 minutes and 30 seconds by 16 chefs. They used 25 kg of dough and 45 kg of ghee to prepare the dosa. "We need to season tawa days in advance in order to make a perfect long dosa.

Hence, we had been seasoning the tawa with 10 kgs of ghee for the last 10 days. And, each day we had been making three to four small dosas on it as well," said Jolly Christian, general manager of the Sankalp group of restaurants. Sankalp was already holding the Guinness world record for the longest dosa -- a 30-feet-long onethat was created at the Sankalp restaurant in Mumbai in 2006.

Then what made the Sankalp to break its own record? "We made this dosa in the honour of Quickgun Murugan. Calling the great hero like Quickgun Murugan for a normal dosa would have been like an insult. Hence, we thought of making a world record-breaking dosa that would serve its purpose of honouring the quirky character of Quickgun Murugan, the protagonist, who is a cowboy fighting for the virtues of vegetarian food," added Christian.

For starters, Quickgun Murugan is a concept comedy based on an unlikely superhero with 'Guntastic' powers, a character that used to be shown on Channel V for the last 15 years, portraying a cowboy battling for the virtues of vegetarianism against the villains who promoted non-vegetarian food. The film is directed by Mumbai-based Bengali director Shashank Ghosh.

In order to register the record in Guinness book, the staff of Sankalp will be sending pictures and footages to the Guinness book within a few days.
