Sad Demise of Our President

It is with great sadness that I inform all of you that our President, Tariq Masoud Qasmi Sahib passed away in Lahore, Pakistan on Sunday, December 26, 2010.

He was in Lahore visiting his brother when he suffered a heart attack. His wife & children at that time were in Abbotbad.

Tariq Masoud Qasmi was born in and brought up in Qatar. His father Mehboob Alam Qasmi was an officer with Qatar Army till 1986. He is also related to the legendery poet and writer Mr. Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi. Tariq had his early education in Qatar & UK. He graduated in English literature from University of Punjab. Later he proceeded to US. He returned to Doha in 1989 with a degree in business & finance.

Since 1991 he was President of a Doha based Pakistani socio-cultural Society named Pakistan Arts Society - Qatar and serving Masraf Al Rayan as DGM operation. he was a poet by passion, his first collection was published in 1989 under the name of “Broken Lines”.and second is “The Second Visit” , and third book was ‘love encompasses All” it was English translation work of Amjad Islam Amjad selected urdu poems.

We, the Pakistan Arts Society-Qatar, deeply mourn the sudden demise of Mr. Tariq Masoud Qasmi. We pray to Almighty Allah that May his soul rests in peace. May Allah give enough strength and patience to the berieved family to bear this loss (Aameen).
