Majlis releases DVDs of Alami Award, Mushaira

Qatar-based internationally acclaimed Majlis Farogh-e-Urdu Adab released DVDs of its 13th Alami Farogh-e-Urdu Adab Award and Alami Mushaira 2009 at a function held at Shezan hotel on Friday.

Pakistani Embassy Community Welfare Attaché, Dr Syed Mansoor Abbas Rizvi, who attended the function as guest of honour, officially launched the DVDs comprising award giving ceremony and the grand Alami Mushaira featuring top literary fighures from India and Pakistan.

Mohammad Atiq, Chairman, Board of Patrons, attributed successful holding of the event to officials of the Majlis, members, Board of Patrons and sponsors. He urged Urdu lovers to get copies of DVD which is being offered at cost price.

Atiq later presented copies of DVDs to Rizvi and Pakistan Embassy’s third Secretary, Ashar Shahzad.

Atiq thanked Mushtaq Ahmed Yousafi and Dr.Gopi Chand Narang, the heads of juries in Pakistan and India respectively, for their co-ordination and M.S Bukhari, Syed Sarwar Hussain, V K Chaudhary, Syed Akhtar Abbas, Shaukat Ali Naz, Syed Fahimuddin,Javed Hamayun, Farid Nadavi, Furqan Paracha,Anwar Hamdulay and Ijaz Hyder for their support and cooperation.

Atiq announced that a mushaira will be held at Pakistan Embassy auditorium on Friday,October 23 at 8.00 pm in which local poets will present their poetry in Urdu,Punjabi,Pushto, Sindhi nd Balochi.

Dr Rizvi hailed Mohammad Atiq and his team members for their consistent and sincere efforts to promote Urdu language and literature.

Syed Fahimuddin conducted the proceedings. Shaukat Ali Naz welcomed the guests. Javed Hamayun and Dammam-based poet Sohail Saqib also attended.

Members, Board of Patrons, local businessmen, professionals, noted members of Indian and Pakistani community and their families were present on the occasion.

Instituted in 1996, the Alami Farogh-e-Urdu Adab Award carries a gold medal and a cash prize of Rupees 300,000 equally divided among two leading writers each from India and Pakistan. The 13th Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award was presented to India’s Professor Dr Syeda Jaffer and Pakistan’s Dr Jamil Jalibi in Doha Sheraton on 4th June this year.
