Entry to the State of Qatar is temporarily suspended from 14 countries as of March 9, 2020, as a preventive measure due to the spread of COVID-19 worldwide.
The decision includes the following countries: Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, and Thailand which affects all individuals intending to enter Qatar, including visas on arrival, QID holders or work permit holders, and temporary visitors.
As per Qatar’s law, expatriates with QID holders can not stay out of the country for more than six months. Expatriates were unable to enter the country with an expired QID.
However, due to travel ban imposed on those countries as a preventive measure to combat COVID-19, residents with expired QIDs can still come back to Qatar even if they have stayed out of the country for more than six months, according to Ministry of Administrative Labour and Social Affairs.
The Ministry continues to urge members of the public to follow all recommended precautionary measures to protect themselves from contracting the virus.
Here's everything you need to know about the virus.
