Work on Doha Metro is 50% complete after digging operation ends
The Doha Metro, which is expected to cut down traffic as well as improve the country’s public transportation infrastructure, is now halfway through to completion.
Several top officials and dignitaries were present when one of the 21 massive tunnel boring machines working on the project broke through the wall on the south side of the Red Line at Hamad International Airport (HIA) Station.
Here is a video of the moment.

A total of 111km of underground tunneling was done since work began in July, 2014.
Qatar Rail had set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of tunnel boring machines operating simultaneously in a single project.
The company will next focus on fitting tracks and electrical works on the 37 stations that will come up in the first phase of operations. A part of the Doha Metro is slated to open in early 2020.
Good job, people. We simply cannot wait to ride the Doha Metro.
We are proud of this .. Only four more years to go .. Joys
