Two days after being arrested by Spanish authorities in a hotel raid, famed distance coach Jama Aden has reportedly been released with no charges against him.

The coach of 1500m world record-holder Genzebe Dibaba and several other world and Olympic champions was “set free of charge” along with Musaeb Adbulrahman Balla, according to a Facebook post written by Aden’s family member.

British World Championship finalist Eilish McColgan first reported the news on her Twitter page by taking a screenshot of the message on Facebook.

“I’m not sorry to say that my dad has been set free of charge along with elite athlete Musaeb Abdulrahman Balla finding absolutely nothing,” Jama’s family member wrote.

Aden was arrested at the Sabadell Hotel outside of Barcelona, Spain along with an unnamed trainer while 22 athletes who were also guests at the hotel were drug tested. The raid followed four weeks of round-the-clock surveillance which ended a three-year investigation by British news outlet Sportsmail and the IAAF.

Aden was found with EPO, anabolic steroids, and a number of unidentified medicines in his hotel room after a training session with his athletes, one of which being world champion Dibaba who was tested on site.

The Somali-born coach also coaches indoor 1,000M world record-holder Ayanleh Souleiman and two-time world indoor champion Abubaker Kaki. In the past he has also coached 2012 Olympic champion Taoufik Makhloufi.

“Haters keep hating but remember, every set back is a set up for a come back, so expect more titles and medals,” the post continued.
