Qatar Airways plans for the world’s longest direct flight
Qatar Airways will be launching a direct flight from Doha to Auckland, New Zealand from December 3 onwards. Once it’s launched, it would be the world’s longest non-stop flight.
Announcing about it at the ITB Berlin travel show along with 13 other destinations across Europe, Africa and Asia, it was revealed that the 9,000 mile journey will be carried out in a long-range Boeing 777-200LR jet.
The journey will last for 17½ hours, eclipsing Qantas' Sydney-Dallas Airbus A380 trek by one hour.
The Australian Business Traveller reported that the Auckland route will see Flight QR921 depart Auckland at 2.40pm to reach Qatar's Doha hub at 10.20pm the same day.
The Doha-Auckland leg shaves an hour off the total travel time, with QR920 departing from Doha at 2.10am for a 4.30am arrival into Auckland the following day.
The Oneworld member has been making a steady push into the Asia-Pacific region, with Sydney-Doha flights starting only last week and Adelaide seeing Qatar's Airbus A350 in May.

I have not met Britexpat or any other QLer so far. However, writing reflects much about a person's thinking and his outlook towards life. I have realized that Brit is a very mature person with a broad outlook of the world and a shade of humor. Brit and MM are worlds apart and they just cannot be one and the same person.

may god never put me on a plane for 17hrs...longest ive been was doha to london with an almost empty plane to myself and i'd had enough after 2 hrs...catch the takeoff go to sleep wake up to catch the landing..thats perfect....
