Greek triple jumper Paraskevi Papachristou was withdrawn from the London Olympics yesterday after causing an uproar at home for tweeting what was seen as a racist slur, the head of the Greek Olympics team said.
“She showed no respect for a basic Olympic value and unfortunately she is out,

Stealth, well you have shown your disriminatory credentials by getting it wrong. Nothing to do with the UK - it was the Greek Olympic committee who withdrew her. But you would know that if you had actually read the article - but any excuse for a bash ehhhh???

But insensitive(considering the outbreak of the virus) and tactless yes. And I don't see why it had to have her expelled since her joke can have no reflection on her performance. Overreaction on the part of the comity! I'm assuming they must be then under tremendous pressure by the PC brigade!

Could someone please explain to me how the comment was racist? I see its stupidity, but how does it assert the superiority of one race over the other?

its a free world, she can say wherever she want, she shouldn't be withdrawn for saying that!

I think it is ridiculous that Syria sends a team to the Games.

I think it is ridiculous to be pulling people for this sort of thing. Yes, it's idiotic, but so are a lot of things people do. She's an athlete and isn't pretending to be much else. Her comments need to be put into that context.

Besides, the comment isn't racist by definition (she's not asserting the superiority of one race over the other). Tactless yes, but racist no.

The "Olympic Idea" is dead since a long time anyway. Why do they still pretend?

Good decision. Showed her true colours and not wanted at the Olympics.
