Good morning,
We will continue our daily learning thread and today I will remind you with some terms used while driving.
Words
Esharat Moroor= Traffic Signal
Shortat al Moroor = Traffic Police
Hezam Aman = Safety belt
Mukhalafa = Violation
Quiz
1- What is the Arabic word for “Guilty”?
2- What is the English Translation of “Ma endy Ta’meen Shamel”?
Have a nice day :)
Yaay, FS is back :)
FS..you sooooo smart :D
rak: she must be telling "eshdawa" now :)
Even I was wondering, how was she able to post?
FS: how did u post here while u r oopsed?
i would like to remind the MOD in his written exception in the 5th comment of the following link:
http://www.qatarliving.com/node/1833359
MOD, plz unblock our friend FS if the reason for blocking is using Arabic words in the main forum.
I got a mail saying that my ID is blocked bcos I used an Arabic word which is in their blocked list..:(
shisha: well, good to know that :)
Am learning......:-)))
Ok.. Well what i said in my comment is
if the police guy says "Ent Ghaltan" = "You're mistaken/Guilty" OR "Its your fault".. then you say "Eshdawaa" = Qatari slang to express your emotions depending on the nature of the occasion
You can use it as:
WTF / WTH? .. when your astonished / shocked
How am i hijacking.. i am just contributing :(
stop hijacking!! :)
Thanks Osama! One of the most useful threads on QL are back :)
CL: plz translate all what u write in arabic so that non-arabs will be able to understand it
anyway "eshdawa" is a qatari word used in the meaning of "why/how come"
yeah Osama .. and if the police tells you "Ent Ghaltan !" .. reply to him with "Eshdawaaaa !"
whenever u go to police for accident (hope u won't) the first question will be "Meen Ghaltan?" means "Whose mistake?"
Sorry for the confusion, Osama :(
in local common used arabic they say "Ghaltan" which is easy to remember (Guilty = Ghaltan)
ROFL FS.. I was joking about Guilty = Gheelitee in arabic :D
its Mudhnib / Muznib = Guilty
am i right osama?
CL: u mean that u say combutar as the arabic word for computer!? :)
TB: Adi's answer is correct
Adi: thanks for your answer
Tinki ... LOL.. what police? :P
and yes Adi translated that right
Osama ...good to seee your arabic thread again..:)
Gheeelitee and Ghalathi is similar.... :)
what you say for wrong number? Rakkam Ghelath?
Osama.. damn i didnt know that .hahaha
I always used mouse for mouse... may be in arabic i try to make it sound a bit like "moz" :P
of course CL, we all need to remember some Arabic words which are not used (eg. do u remember the arabic word for computer's mouse? "Fa'rat al Hasoob")
Well sorry tinki... Guilty in Arabic is Gheeeliteee
Osama.. can i answer??
