All the people of QL,
Good evening.I am Rach, female live in the philippines.Presently working here at Doha, Qatar for 4 months already as a receptionist at the spa here in one of the famous mall here in Aspire. I am very confused that is it normal here in Qatar that the employer usually get the original passport, copy of my contract and my pataka? They only give me xerox of my passport and pataka. What is the usually working hour of the employee? Is it also allowed that every time we get our salary we don't have also payslip. And also is it allowed that the employer deduct any penalty to there employee? And the last is how many month we needed to resign that we cannot pay the company?or do we really need to pay our employee? Can you please help me to answer this questions?
Thank you and more power.

NO. AFAIK, it is against Qatar Labor Law, that the employer keep your passport and pataka. It should be return to you.

Working hours depends on the contract that you signed. 8 hrs is the normal working hours of an employee. Additional hrs in excess of 8 hrs, is considered overtime.

Paying for any penalty that you committed is again depends on the contract that you have agreed to sign. It is your right to ask for any payslip every time you receive your salary.

The no. of months you have to work before you are allowed to leave the company, again depends on your contract.

.. my advised, its a must that you should have a copy of your work contract, so that you will not be working blind.
