Qatar compared to Saudi Arabia?

Hello All!

I've been offered a job in Qatar and I just want to know about the culture and life for a single guy in the country, compared to my life in KSA. I know it's a bit broad so I'll try to narrow it down a bit:

1. Do restos, coffee shops and the like have separate sections for un-accompanied men and families?

2. Am I allowed to DECENTLY socialize with members of the opposite sex? (i.e. coffee, dinner, movies, etc.)

3. Are there pubs or clubs I can visit as an un-accompanied man? or do I have to be with a lady?

4. Do shops, restos, and the like close during prayer times?

Please feel free to throw in additional information on how to go about my daaily life in Qatar. Please note that I have been in Saudi Arabia for the last 5 years and I FULLY RESPECT and intend to abide by local customs and traditions.

Thanks in advance!

I think you should include the more important things;

theres a big disparity in the standard of living; what youre getting in KSA might not let you survive here; use the search buttons below

There are can separate areas for family but they can sit in bachelors area though vice-versa is not possible.

2. Am I allowed to DECENTLY socialize with members of the opposite sex? (i.e. coffee, dinner, movies, etc.)

Coffee, Dinner, Movie should be fine but no Public Display of affection.

3. Are there pubs or clubs I can visit as an un-accompanied man? or do I have to be with a lady?

Yes. Some allow only couples but there are many which allow single men in.

4. Do shops, restos, and the like close during prayer times?

Yes on Fridays, no in other days
