Cargo plane crashes near Dubai motorway
A cargo plane has crashed near a major motorway in Dubai, according to local officials and media reports.
There is no word yet on casualties.
The plane came down near the Emirates Road, setting some cars on fire, al-Arabiya television reported.
An official quoted by the channel said a fire had broken out in the plane as it attempted to land at Dubai airport.
may the fellows who died rest in eternal peace. :(
the aircraft had departed DXB earlier and was some 120 miles away when the emergency started. They requested a return to DXB but with the first attempt to 12R they were high and had to go around. The fire escalated to the point where they could not see the instruments and were constantly asking ATC for headings and altitude dumping fuel at the same time. Aircraft crashed while maneuvering for another landing attempt. The UPS 744 has fire detection erquipment but no fire suppression. Sounds like the worst case scenairo for the pilots.
R.I.P THE PILOTS
