Thai Snack's Services Sucks

vanharauma
By vanharauma

I have accepted Qatar's lack of hospitality services but at Thai Snack the guy at the cashier (bold with glasses) is the rudest of them all!

Came for lunch at 12.00pm (and was not yet crowded) and ordered 3 uncomplicated dishes, it took 25mins to get the food which was incomplete - one dish was totally wrong and they had to exchange and the veggie never came. We've asked over and over again and the reply was "on the way"... 45 mins later the veggie came. Fine.

When paying at the cashier, I mentioned to the boldie with glaases that today the food came late and it was not complete and his response in the most sarcastic rude so un-thai ways was "Do you know why with a sarcastic look..there's a lot of people" He had the guts to tell a customer in that manner and I go to Thai Snack at least twice a week and I paid almost QR100 for 3 dishes and two drinks with a service that sucks!

Just because they are popular and one of the only Thai places in town does not mean that they can be extremely rude to customers thinking they can still have "other" customers coming and their business will survive!and in the meantime we have to tolerate that kind of service?

My resolution now is to just stop going there! I urge any Thai out there to open another Thai restaurant with the famous Thai hospitality!

loooool that guy with the glasses is hilarious, the first time i saw him he remembered me of one of those japanese anime cartoons resturant dudes.

i like the place, i mean the food is fine, the prices are good, and the atmosphere is totally Thailand.

Never had any problems with their service but then again, always either have something to read or company to chat with - so no problem waiting. Food's great and prices reasonable- my kinda place. :0)

Thai Chi is another thing - ambience is nice but food is so so and quite expensive. Went once only and never bothered to go back.

/Not very easily impressed by appearances. Even been to 7 star hotels and was impressed for only about 20-30 minutes. Thai Chi was less than 20 seconds after actually eating that Pad Thai - which should have been good as it should have been their signature dish!!

I all I would say is everyone on this planet has a bad day. Not to make excuses for the guy, but we have all been there. That said I have been there counless times over the last 4 years and its one of my favorite restraunts in Doha. The food is always incredible and just as incredible is the value. I will say the wait staff can be hard to flag down when you need something at times, but thats usually due to the sheer volume of customers during busy hours. As far as the guy at the cashier with the glasses, he is always smiles and jokes when I approach him. Maybe give the guy a break?

Thai/Chi has a few nice dishes, but its way overpriced. For the few nice dishes they have, there is an equal number of dishes that seem to lack any character and seem to suffer from "big business" mediocrity. On the other hand, Thai Snack always looks and tastes like it was homecooked just for the diner.

My opinion anyway...

Got my lunch there today. Although I arrived 5 minutes before closing time, I had excellent service, got about 5 dishes in 10 minutes, tasty and delivered with a SMILE. And "that baldy" was very curteuous, smiling and joking.

What in god's name is there to complain about?????

I could say a few rather unleasant words about some other asian establishments here in Doha.

Thai Snack rocks.

if anyone been to thailand before or have some thai friends, you guys should know how the thais speak english. One day my british indian friend came to their cafe, she also regular and havent been for a month because she was away. One of the waiter said in his thai accent 'madam long time not come, now look fat very good'.

I can see the funny side of it ... so does she ... , but if this is happening to the original poster, he will come to QL and post how rude the waiter in thai snack is ... :D :D

lol ... yes the amount we going out to thai snack cafe at least 2 times a week in the past 8 yrs for a family meal I should become their share holder ... so does everybody else in Doha. The place always packed , lunch time or dinner time.

If you really hate the owner, dont go back to thai snack my friend ... try some place else. There are many places to eat in Doha. From 5 stars hotel to Thai Snack :)

Vanharauma, I think you're the only person in Doha who is complaining about Thai Snacks, so don't single out Novi. I've never had a problem with their service.

Thanks lukreng & sabrang :)

Novita must have been one of the Thai Snack shareholders! I never complained about their waiters just that baldie with glasses, who cares if he is the owner, even worst so! what an example to set for your workers!

good services comes from the heart not from how much a dish cost!

I know its medioacre hospitality services here but the rudeness the baldie glasses gives I suggest he take a break and go back to Thailand and reimmerse in his friendly culture and come back a better person!

OMG, I love their service! With those little wireless order pads our appetizers usually come out before he's finished taking our order. And I'm surprised at paying 100 QR for three dishes, I didn't know they had any that expensive. I do agree that waiting 45 minutes for one dish is excessive but I'd chalk that up to a one-off. I'd never deprive myself of Thai Snack.

You paying peanut you got monkey. I personally loves the place, always comes there since the place open and run by the family (father, mother and their son). Now the place expanding so much, since they opened 10 yrs ago they have brought so many staffs to work there from thailand and have so many regular customers.

Dont come to Thai Snack ever again .... they lost nothing by loosing a customer like YOU.

You want 5 stars service, go to Hyatt , they have a very good thai restaurant call Ishan.
