where to live in doha?

Can you please recommend suitable residential areas for family. Our kids are aged between 6 and 8. Someone recommended West Bay to us?? Is compound living preferable if you have young kids? We have a dog - are we making life difficult for ourselves if we bring him? Would appreciate any information - thanks!

There are no good or bad area in Doha although Wets Bay tends to be a bit upper class. The best areas to be is close to the schools which are all mostly located in Al waab and Abu Hamour. This is the West side of Doha. Conpound livinf is good as you will have all the fasilities required as swimming pool, Gym and so on. Some compounds doesn't allow dogs, so make sure of that. Also a big dog is definately a no no as there is not space in the compound for them. Small dogs are ok. It is rather not easy to get place in a British school as they are mostly full. Good luck.

location

My suggestion is find out #1 where you/your husband's office is located. #2 where is the children's school

Then determine an in between point to live. All areas of Doha are safe and good. yes, compound living is preferrable when you have children. Be mindful, Doha traffic is HORRIBLE!!!! You do not want to live far away from either work or school or you will spend a lot of time stuck in traffic.

where ever you decide to live pls dont abandon that poor dog, its part of the family .i know you will b giving him to a loving, caring family but that is exactly how he is going to feel, abandoned. look for a place that allows pets, there are plenty of places around.

West Bay is pricey! There are no really bad areas. Waab street is good if you like malls as you have Villagio close by with ice skating (it will also have a cinema at some point) and Hyatt Plaza with Jungle Zone.
