WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Last week I found a flat advertised here. I talked with the current tenant and I was told that the contract will be direct with the owner. He also told me that he has some checks with the landlord. As agreed, I issued here a posdated check amounting to half of the rent as reservation while waiting for the owner to come back from vacation. This check will be returned to me once I sign the contract with the landlord.
But after a week passed, he called me and asked me to issue around 10 checks under his name since as he said the owner is still on vacation and is not sure what date he will be back. Once the landlord comes back from vacation, he will return the checks I issued to him.
Please advise me what to do in this situation. I believe I am in a disadvantage here. This is my first time to deal directly for a flat and I don't know the rules here about issuing checks.
Hello ,
As some people answered you , you should not issue any cheque to him without a signed contract which should be signed from the owner and from you .
Were you born yesterday?
have you moved to Qatar from Mars?
who issues cheques without having any concrete written documents?
I dont think it is a question to be asked but pure common sense. People like you do these irresponible things and then later blame the whole country and commuity for the organised injustice specially done to you.
Hi, before you issuing a check, you should have a contract first with the landlord. Reservation usually is only 500 or less. My suggestion is to hold on to your remaining checks and retrieve the once you gave to the fixer. If you are in doubt, do the precautions and maybe just wait for the owner.
Good Luck.
please take care do not issue any checks with out having the agreement of tenancy in your name, in whose name did u issue the last check as u mentioned for the flat and on what terms & conditions did u issue the check, do u have any written statement to that effect
His a liyer ...watch out..
good luck
Please be careful in issuing cheques without signing any papers....
