What money to bring with me?

So, I'm arriving on Friday and I'm just wondering what the best way to bring accross my money would be?

Should I bring some US Dollars? Should I just get everything converted to Qatari Riyals? I've been told I'll need to get my visa at the airport with my bank card instead of cash, is this correct? Will I get a fair exchange rate from GB Pounds to Qatari Riyals at the airport?

Is it at all likely that my employer will perhaps pay my first month in two installments if I find money getting tight at the start?

Cheeeers :) Can't wait to arrive!

why isnt the company providing you a visa?

If you are taking visa on arrival, then you might as well look for a job in other schools as well :)

Related to any payment at govt. offices here in Qatar requires E-cards, that could be your Debit/Credit card. If you dnt have any of these you can get an E-card to use only for this Govt.service payments (This card can get from QNB Bank)

I think you pay for visa on arrival with your credit card. Use your bank card and get what you need here as you need it. Usually conversion rates via an ATM or bank machine is pretty good, not sure how most banks make any money. If you bring over more than $10K US, like most countries, you would have to declare it anyways.

Hahah I WISH I could brew Guinness! Sadly, it's a case of choosing a screenname when I was about 15 (taken from an album by the Black Label Society) and just sticking wwith it for convenience!

If you are provided accommodation and transport... you wont need lot of money with you... you will need only for your food and entertainments..

Many companies pay salary advance for new arrivals..

Exchange rate for GBP is better here than in UK...

Welcome to Qatar..:)
