Using hazard light during Fog!

What is the proper use of hazard light here in Doha during fog? I’m really confused why people use hazard light during fog and driving around 100 km/h and swerving on the road!

2 Reasons why we should not use hazard light during fog;

1. On a two way traffic line (one lane) you will never see the hazard light when a car put his lights on. So no reason using hazard light.

2. On a busy road of Doha with roundabout you must not use your hazard light as people on your back never know where you are going and you will make them confuse.

Please use your hazard light wisely and you will reach your place safely.

Experienced this past few days;
- I was driving on Dukhan road last 15th of November morning and there was an accident happen near the Ryyan stadium. Pickup was running using hazard light and a car on the back is tailgating him and suddenly this car on the back hit the pickup’s back and the pickup fly over the gravels along road side. It was a scary accident you can imagine your car (pickup) can fly!

- On the busy traffic this morning somewhere in Ramada Signal and fog are almost gone but still most of the people using their hazard light. I really don’t understand why they still use it what is the purpose?

- Last Thursday I was already in Qatar Decoration roundabout and there was a black land cruiser (lady driver) jump over in front of me (cut me from left to right) during the turn in roundabout and guess what she is using hazard light and I will never know if she is going right or left.

I just noticed most of the people using hazard light’s are from India/Pakistan/Middle East people, do you use hazard light like that?

PEOPLE USING HAZARD LIGHT ARE CALLED HAZARDOUS PEOPLE!

use only hazzard light when your vehicle is stalled or made an emergency stop beside the road otherwise refrain from using it during fog while travelling before you make the other roaduser in DANGER.

Driving school here in Qatar are crap I feel they don't have Certified Driving Instructor (CDL). I experienced during my half course just to get a Qatari driving license an sri lankan instructor with me on the road and we are on the edge of the corner junction (going right) with a heavy traffic flow and he force me to go further to the end of the line and if I go to the end of the line two things will happen either I will be hit by a car from a heavy traffic flow or the car will swerve to the other line, what I did is I stop and I argue with him telling that is not a right way.

the car should have an option for increasing the intensity of the rear lights for foggy conditions.

Another essential action in fog is to regularly use the wash/wipe sequence on the wipers. In fog, moisture builds up on the windscreen and the driver thinks that the poor visibilty is caused by the thickening fog.

and headlights are only for flashing at other cars as you run up their tailpipes... so they get out of your way..come on girlie...remember your traffic laws...

What needs to be installed in the cars are rear fog lights to be seen from behind. But then again, in most cars here in the mid-east, there are no front fog lights.

Hazard lights are only to be used when stopped. They are too easily confused with signal lights (not that there is a lot of use of them here but it is improving).

Nearly all cars there have fog lights just nobody knows how to use them, driving schools have to shoe the drivers what is right and wrong and in my opinion no one was ever taught about fog .

Hazards light are use only for hazzards - emergency - car break down etc.

There is normally a switch below the dashboard to initiate when there is fog lights.

Fog lights are brighter than the normal lights and should be used accordingly. If you know are takind driving lessons ask the instructor what to do, if he tells you to use hazzard lights change the driving school.

what ever the condition while driving never use hazard lights it creates more confussion better to use headlights

As Paul said Hazard lights to be used only if your car has some problems and it has stopped

I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm here

Than a whole truck load when I'm gone

---> They never use the indicator anyway (most of the time) so whats the difference? People already confuse as it is :-)
