Transmission Fluid - Nissan Altima
By kevinjackson •
Hi,
I seem to have an issue in the (ABS) of my Nissan altima 2005. While driving the ABS indicator is highlighted and car does not accelerate in the drive mode. I have to switch the gear to neutral or reverse and accelerate, after which i have to put it back to the drive mode and the car starts to move. At this time the ABS indicator is not highlighted. Can there be a problem in the transmission fluid.
Has anyone faced a similar problem before and what is the solution for it. Please advice.
How very odd!
Usually if your ABS light comes on, it means you have a problem with a wheel sensor, the wiring or the ABS ECU. I would doubt it is a faulty sensor as if it was, then no way would if affect the acceleration. Plus it is a bit early for an ABS sensor to fail at this stage.
It sounds like something has gone haywire which is causing the ABS light to come on intermittently.
Now I have heard on a Ford Scorpio a defective lamba sensor causing the ABS to light up!
I very much doubt it is fluid related, could be a defective sensor malfunctioning somewhere. It could be a dirty MAF sensor maybe, causing the gearbox to play up?
It could be really anything. Best thing is to take it to Nissan and let them hook up a computer to it and see if that throws up anything.
In the meantime join a Nissan owners forum, you might get a specialist to better guide you.
dear,,,,,,,,,,ABS,,,relted to (Anti-Lock Brak system) Brake,,,so it is not a majar complaint...take to mechanic in 10 mint clear it
quickly take to service center, it can become big problem
Caveat: I am not a professional wrench! I am not an expert on Nissan’s; I work on Subaru’s as a hobby!
You may want to get your brakes checked first, as ABS means (Anti-Locking, Braking, system) this may require a different fluid, and goes in a different area. Or your pads may be worn.
As for the Transmission most of the worldwide brands will work it’s called (ATF), although Nissan recommends theirs. If you are going to use the first option of fluid:
1. You need to drain the transmission first, then refill with all fresh fluid.
2. When was the last transmission service done? You may need a new filter.
3. How many KM’s on the car? How old is the car? Is it leaking fluid?
4. What is the service schedule?
The dealer is not always the best option, they usually over charge you, for work that any good mechanic can do.
Hi,
I have never heard of any problem like this. I have a Nissan Armada and we usually (for fun) drive in Gear 1, 2, 3, 4. Its an automatic but it is like D1, D2, D3, D4. You should go to your Nissan Dealership Service Center and you should check it out.
Hope it helps!
Bring your car to nissan dealer and let them fixed it...dont ever try with any mechanic out there or regret.
