Things to know before coming to Qatar

a) If you call a taxi, it will take 1 to 2 hrs to come to your address. Why? Who knows.
b) The whole place is unimaginably humid. A short walk outdoor in summertime will get you soaked to the very bone.
c) The whole place is a noisy construction site of ugly skyscrapers and shopping malls (btw, all skyscrapers and shopping malls are ugly).
d) Stink of urine and rotting waste almost everywhere.
e) Traffic laws are draconian, but driving behavior is extremely dangerous. Arrogant Arabs and dummy Indo-pakistanis are the perfect mix for road accidents everywhere.
f) Way of life is purely materialistic. No culture, no traditions, no art, no love for books. Only the materialistic worship of money and ostentatious luxury. In such an environment, a normal European feels like an oak tree of olden times transplanted into the desert.
g) The place is supremely boring. No outdoor life, no quiet walks in the city centre, no nice shops with their windows on the street like in Europe. Only lurid shops selling crappy fake Rolex, or the pampered boredom of luxury hotels.
h) Do not expect anything better in a radius of 1000 km. All Gulf countries are more or less the same.

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Qatar!

Angelo,

The only thing I would say about your post is that the 1000 km thing isn't entirely accurate. I take it you have not been to Iran. The southern edge of Iran, along the Persian Gulf, yes, the same story. But if you move in just a bit north to Shiraz, and then a bit further north to Isfahan, you'll see a different world with regard to culture, sophistication, love of books and poetry, etc. Completely different attitude and outlook too.

Don't believe all of what you see on tv. The recent events aside.

Also, if you're into skiing, there are absolutely gorgeous ranges north of Teheran. In both of the cities I named you would see tons of European tourists and it's not too expensive to fly there from Qatar. I think around $250 return to Shiraz. Highly recommend it on your next holiday.

A) Its Qatar

B) I told you, Its Qatar

C) Well, Qatar is developing.

D) Its still developing.

E) Still Qatar hasn't topped the list of "MOST ACCIDENT PRONE COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD"!

F) THEN WHAT HAVE YOU COME HERE FOR? (be honest:-))

G) That is a good idea, and thats why Qatar thought of constructing Lusail and Pearl Qatar. But it needs patience to see the transformation.

H) Yes it is! C'mon it was/is a desert, everybody knows that.

1) And if you think this is funny, then I meant it the other way.
