is there any fellow scots in qatar who could help me with some question on moving to qatar?

Hi i am looking to move out to doha asap as currently looking for work as a plumber i have 12 years experience as plumber , domestic gas engineer , and 3 years middle east expeience while working in iraq mainly within m.o.d sector also carried out pivate work back home , my friend is out there as site engineer with big company he says would put me up for few weeks and better to find employment out there as would be easier ? would i have to leave country if came and did find work ?anyone know salary expectations ? would i get accomadation provided ?
i am really eager to move to doha but struggling with finding out information on my trade is there work there for my job title ? any help be gratefully appreciated

Plumbers back home make more money than here. Maybe your friend was refering to a management position.

Plumbers in the GCC usually are from Asia and rarely are qualified to the level required in Europe, Australia or America.

Perhaps your friend is thinking you might get a job as a management type? As a plumber, I would think your job prospects would be few as your salary expectations would be too high.

Most plumbers here would be making at best QAR3,000 - QAR5,000 (if they're just doing plumbing).

I don't know about the construction companies but would imagine if they're looking for someone with Western qualified plumbing credentials they'd be looking offshore already.
