Hi

We are coming to Doha this weekend to view apartments before moving here.

We will be going around various loctions eg. West Bay, Diplomatic Area, Airport area, Najma and AlSaad.

Are taxis expensive in Doha?
Do they work on meter?

Any other better ideas for transport?

Thanks so much for advice.

Is this the most important question you have, are taxis on a meter? Is this how you judge a country?

i used Anthony for 3 months, he has good car, drives carefully (unlike mental taxis) is polite, does not smell and knows the area. his number is 5460715.....try and strike a daily rate with him.

good luck

Taxis are not easy to get in Doha, sometime you may have to wait for hour’s n hours yet you will be lucky to find it. I would suggest to get some full day service (search in QL pickup/drop service) and finish in one day all apartments searching job.

Most of the Real estates have more than one location, short list number of agencies you cordinate and ask them to show the places one after the other, other wise other members say you will be tired especially during this time because of very hot temparature.

You'll need a little more than a weekend if you want to view apartments in all the areas you mentioned relying on taxis in this town!...

Bring one "Taxi" with you :). the taxis suc*s here. they are running on meter but quite expensive.

but the most sad, unfortunate and important part is that you don’t find taxis anywhere in Qatar except some shopping malls.

i prefer you get some private limousine service which has better service and availability and the charges are almost same or less price than official taxi

Taxis aren't exactly expensive but hard to get. You can get both metered taxis and illegal taxis which operate without any meter. It is particularly difficult to get a taxi in Diplomatic area and Airport area.
