hello there.. i will be starting working in doha this mid march in a company. I'm planning to get my wife and a 3mos. old kid to live with me here after i get my RP. however, the company has given me only offers for a SINGLE status. can i possibly ask my company to change my status to family status so that it would be easier for me to get my wife and kid and avail of family status offers? what would be the procedure? if u can help me then, thanks a lot!!

it has to be mentioned in your offer that you have the option to switch to family status. otherwise, it will be a very long process for you to wait. also, it helps them to prepare the kind of visa to you can use. if they do not explicitly specify that you can bring your family, they might assign you a laborer's visa which does not allow any dependent to be brought in.

check the offer.

my offered package (single status)is lower than ur calculated cost of living for a family. but an offer attachment was included in my package that if my family resides here, they will be giving an additional 50% more for housing allowance and 100% additional for furnishing. you are probably right, there might be a reason why they only give me a single status contract now. but i wish i can get my family shortly after i get my RP.

Generally speaking, if a company wants to offer only single status contracts, there is a reason for it.

They may allow you to convert to married status but personally I think it unlikely that you will attract the perks ordinarily associated with a married status package if they allow the switch.

Good luck.

wut is ur package?? living with family here is not that easy as u think .. like u will pay 5000 to 8ooo Q.R as minimum for family accomdation.. ur package shouldn't be less than 10,000 to 15,000 and with that u will be just living but not saving..
