All the cars I've used both in Qatar and Saudi Arabia I brought them in from the U.S. myself, it's cheaper if you know what you are doing. If the car your are bringing in is around 3 years old and in perfect condition then go ahead and bring it it after doing your maths.

Never mind the old wives that say cars from America cannot cope with the hot conditions here, the hottest temperature reading any where in the world for 2012 was recorded in the U.S. (California's Death Valley) and American cars run well there and similar hot places like Texas, Nevada, New Mexico etc, and no car is manufactured in Qatar anyways, even the new ones were imported.

You need to be cautious with European cars because Europe is generally cooler, however, if the Yaris and the Accents are running here in the Gulf I can't imagine which modern car wont. If you service your car regularly, put coolant in the radiator as at when due and generally never maltreat the car you should be fine.

As far as warranty goes if your car is over 2 years old you are probably out of warranty anyways so who cares for warranty service by the local dealers. The same thing applies for parts, if you stick to the popular brands you will find parts quite easily.

If you are buying a new car here in the Gulf then go ahead, the car dealers will eat more than normal off you but it's passable, however, I will never advise anyone to buy a used car here in the Gulf, there's a very high percentage chance that you are buying a a basket of troubles.

If you want to get rid of hassles and headache best to buy here otherwise you will not get the resale value here.

Also check the price of the same car here and see all the custom duties and charges, might be it will cost you more by importing it.

Depends if you use drive on deck or container shipping for your car. They range between $1700 to $3300 from USA to Doha

Cyprus drive on the left so your car will be right hand drive.....illegal over here. Even if your car is left hand drive,it will probably be much cheaper to buy out here.

The best advice is NOT to bring it; the entire process is not very pleasant. It is doable, but too much hassle. If you still want to go ahead, make sure the car itself is worth it and plan on keeping it forever to make it worth your while. By law, no cars over 5 years old could be imported at all and they measure it from the car's month and year of manufacture and not the model year. By the time you pay shipping, insurance and 5% customs duty, in some cases it is not even worth it. Then you have to deal with its low marketability. Any car not originally sold in Qatar is usually worth 15% to 25% less than its local versions. Finally, even if you are within manufacturer's warranty, the dealers here do not honor it. Best advice...don't. Buy locally.
