Hello,
I'm planning to do a road trip to Lebanon next month with my wife and a 6 month old baby. Any Recommendation? it will be my first time and i do appreciate your help? ay one having a Map? advice? etc....
Thanks,
First, I wish you safe and happy trip, but as long as you will be accompanied by your family, I would like to suggest the following personal recommendations for your consideration:
- You have to train yourself on how to remain calm and relaxed in all situations during the trip.
- Get your vehicle checked and prepared at leest 2 weeks before traveling (do not trust the efficiency of the workshop) you need this period to re-check the jobs done and to make sure everything is OK.
- Among other things, Special attention to be paid to the cooling system of your vehicle, including Pipes, Electric Fan Components, Belts, Water reservoir & Radiator together with their caps and off course the Thermostat.
- The road is safe and occupied almost all times, but it is preferred to start early morning from Doha to catch the correct track when you enter Saudi Arabia, it is easy and clear but you have to ask before you move into any new distance (one wrong road will cost you tens or hundreds of miles).Keep watching the road signs.
- It is straight long road from Al-Ehsa in Saudi until you reach the boarders of Jordan with very few turns here and there.
- You can obtain a clear road map from the Automobile Club (Cleopatra Travel Agent)
- Relax and Sleep well the night before you travel.
- Stop, relax, wash face with cold water and stretch your body at all petrol stations you pass by.
- Do not postpone refueling, you may find the next station out of stock.
- Whenever you feel sleepy, stop at the nearest station and have some sleep. There are some good and clean hotels in some locations. DO NOT DRIVE SLEEPY.
- Have your own light food supply. DO NOT EAT FROM ROAD OUTLETS.
- Keep wet soft towel in front of you always to keep cooling your face and eyes.
- Do not drive with high speed (120 Km/h is reasonable).
- Driving in the night is risky and requires a lot of attention.
- Do not argue on any issue with the police or the customs authorities.
- Always check on your passports and car documents, and it is preferred to keep them with your wife under your supervision.
- Make sure that your Mobile phone and the charger are OK.
- Keep a note in the car and your pocket to show your Identity and Emergency Contact Details.
- One more important note; and under all circumstances, DO NOT ACCEPT TO LIFT ANY PASSENGER FROM THE ROAD.
- Keep Relaxed, Keep Communicating with your Family, Keep Slightly Filled Stomach, Keep Asking, Keep Smiling and Good Luck.
