renting 4WD?

Hello all,

I wonder how expensive it is to rent a 4WD with which I can go into the desert every now and then. I checked some rental companies and found prices of 500Wr or more for 24 hours. That's quite a lot for a day of bird watching or rock hunting.

Are there other options?

all those rocky terrains are miles away like Dukhan and Umm Said sabaka. Wouldnt recommend solo ventures, how about joining QNHG their activities will start in Oct.

Qatar's climate is currently not in favour of geologist.

QIT has great packages and with reliable drivers, you can even book a bbq treat, and certainly cheaper. I'll send you more details if I find the brochure, we went to the inland sea with my parents-in-law and it was super. I think we paid 450 for all (4 adults)

Thanks for answers. I'm considering buying but as I'm only staying 8 months I'm not sure if it's worth it. And the current economical climate might be such that I don't find a buyer for my car afterwards.

I can't say how many desert trips I'm planning but I'm not a city person and know that operated tours hardly ever bring me to the places I want to go to nor give me the time to stay as long as I want. Hence looking for alternatives.

if you only goes to the desert now and aagin I suggest you should just buy a tour package from the tour operator.
