Rent payed through post dated cheques
I am new to qatar. I just rented a two bedroom flat in a villa and the contract made was for 2 years.
The owner has asked me to pay 2 years post dated cheques I don't have any issue with this and I gave 24 cheques.
Then also he asked me one month extra rent to be payed which will be returned after 2 years contract finishes. He has mentioned about this 1 month extra rent in the contract and also did his signature.
Is this the correct way or did I do any mistake. Anything else to do like get this contract registered somewhere or something else.
Please advice as I am new to qatar and don't know the rules here.
Thanks.
Obviously postdated checks can be cashed in any time. If you are unlucky, the landlord cashes them all in tomorrow. If there are no funds, you'll go to jail.
1.- Post dated cheques are no longer an issue since there is a new legislation stating that it can be exchanged anytime before the post dated on it.
2.- Register the contract with proper authorities to avoid future issues with landlord since it is the inly legal document to back you up in case of any unwanted problem.
Any additional information i would suggest you to go through the provided link
