sup3rsonic - in general they are set to +10% too allow for crap calibration of car speedos. GPS is far more accurate and I've calibrated my own speedo to the GPS. 120 on the GPS is shown as 140 in my car!

Major exception to this is Dubai where they are set to +2% only!!!

To my knowledge speed cameras have a 2kmph error margin. Which is why you will see on your traffic infringement notice a number representing the speed you were caught at, and a rounded down number which is what they determine the fine on. This is also why if you are only speeding a little bit over the limit, you may not get fined.

Dont worry I was running 140kph @ 120 kph speed highway today morning ...camera didnt flush

,,, whats more funny was the other guy I believe qatari guy was running faster than me but camera didnt flush as well.

Well if you get caught...easy just pay for it.

wel..i have experienced at a time that the road was for 100 & while i was about 102,, it wasnt recorded..! hope the same with u..!!

all the best.. check the site after 3 or 4 days..!! even sometimes..if at all the camera flashes..the picture/documentation is not done for unknown reason..maybe missed by Traffic Depratment & u save the fine money.. lol..

I've noticed When I'm doing 100kph on the speedo the sat nav says I'm doing 96kph. So which one should I go by?

In general you are allowed to be up to 9 Km/h over the speedlimit. If it is limited on 80 and your speed is 89 then feel happy, 90 and above means you´ll see a flash in your rear mirror...

take care

if Cars Speedometer shows 82-83 Km/h, then there is no worry as All Cars Speedometers show too much. But of course if you have done modifications, and use a different Tyre Size than original this might affect the Speedometer.

What makes my blood boil is the fact that people persistantly break the speed limit. The limit is there for a reason, speeding does not get you there any quicker, your are just first to get to the snarl up at junctions roundabouts etc. Pls carry on at 82 83 kph, there will be one less idiot on the road. If the speed limit was 90KPH, then we would be having the same conversation regarding some chancer who went through the radar at 92/93kph, Rant over...

no any allowances in Qatar!

this is not North America, here YOU have to give an allowance to radar!

So better drive 77-78

And y u want to worry this much ? it already happened ! u cant take back that. and there is no point is asking QL'rs whether it will be a bad news or gud news since we cant predict the future ! So as someone told, check the moi site after three days. pray and expect the good.. !

i aint made fun of anyone !.. read my comment..

i was relaxing him .. see.. i told 'DO NOT WORRY'

and he itself mentioned there the speed was 82 or 83. i remember once ma dad got flashed while he was speeding at 82. So watz the point of telling him a lie and relaxing him rather than telling the truth ?

Just check it out in the MOI web site 3 days after the event. "Type in" your plate number and you'll see if you have been tolerated.

Have a safe driving weekend!
