Questions about QF

Hi all.

I have a solid offer from QF (Qatar Foundation) looks like I am going to be
headed to Qatar
soon.

Have some concerns about:

- Office environment compared with US
system: how people deal with each other, how is relation with your
managers...etc

- The offer includes accommodation, any idea where is QF complex and how
clean comfort is it?

- Life style: I have 2 young children, 8 & 12, how easy for them to
enjoy there life and having fun, any good places for them.

- I have to stay connected with my office at US, any problems in internet
connections, VOIP telephones or VPN.

Any help in answering me will be appreciated.

Go to qatar living search at the top and research, as there were a few discussions about which schools are best. I guess it depends on what you want, but more importantly it depends on which schools have places as waiting lists are very long.

The link below has all schools and numbers to ring for more information about requirments, sorry my kids arent school age yet, maybe someone else might help you on that one.

Its very important you sort the school stuff out before your kids come here, otherwise you will disrupt their schooling and you may find they arrive here with no school to go to.

Baker,

Although I do not live in the QF accommodations, I have many friends that do. As long as they give you a big enough flat or villa (I am guessing you would want a 3 bedroom), they are relatively nice and come with all the ammenities (TV, DVD player, kitchen appliances, dishes, etc.) At least that is how Texas A&M University stocks their units, I would assume QF is the same way.

I use Skype for all of my US calling and have no problems. Also, if you are attached to US television or if you are big sports fan, you might want to check into hooking up a Slingbox at a friend or relatives house. This will give access to all of the US channels (I personally have to have my NFL and Sportscenter).

As far as office environment goes, I have no idea. I work for US University here so half of my coworkers are American and we follow Texas labor laws, etc.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Having two children 8 and 12, you need to sort out their schooling here before you move them..Most decent schools have waiting lists and you dont want your kids here without school spot....
