wanna book a QA flight online with your credit card, for your wife or relatives departing from your home country to Doha?? book online,pay by credit card and send the e-receipt to them...they will carry it to airport and they will be denied boarding. why? coz they don't possess the credit card which was used for booking the flight. fucked up? there is a solution...you will go to a QA office in qatar,take the Q-ticket, wait for ur turn, present your credit card along with id to the staff, they will verify, issue a new form, you will sign it then scan and it and send to the traveller...hows that? so easy isn't it?? world's five star inconvenience on board..!!!
mushti, i was not denied boarding. i had sent the verification letter well in advance..
this is to avoid online credit card scams n frauds... so please always read the terms before booking an online ticket. ok
because there is so much fraud with credit cards in GCC, gentlemen that is the reason why. And yes, Etihad and Emirates have this silly rule as well.
it happens,
u could have send the Credit card and ur ID copy by fax to anyone in the departure airport
i have experienced it only with qatar....emirates,etihad doesn't trouble the passengers like this. also none of the carriers from india...
I have only ever known it with QA and no other airline. It is a fraud thing, Qatar has a bad reputation for credit card/on line fraud so I am led to understand

there is a form in the wed itself to fill up when passenger and credit card holder is different
Its not just Qatar AIrways alot of airlines have the same policy..
Online booking is for the convenience of the passenger to sit at home/Office and book their tickets. The purchase amount is debited to the credit card as soon as you complete the booking process and why do they need the Credit card for check in? Is it only because the name of the Passenger name does not tally with the name on the Credit card? Normally there should be an option to confirm if the Passenger and the Credit Card owner is same and if not they should not ask for the original credit card for check in as the ticker fare is already paid.
Or just go to the travel agent in the first place to book the ticket. This rule only applies to online bookings.
