Q-Post - P.O Boxes
Hi there
I was wondering if anyone knows why it's so hard to get a P.O Box in Doha?!!
Every time we go to the main office on the corniche, they tell us to come back in 1/2/3 weeks time when there may be availability, but every time we go back there never is! We don't even mind where the PO Box is anymore, we'd just like one!!
Has anyone had any similar issues??? Any comments or advice will be much appreciated :)
I found the guy and for a few months, sent him his mail, while informing him to get another address and inform whoever is sending him of his new address, then I just stopped sending anything.
sorting out mails. I got the same in mine too, mostly bank statements. But I just return them back to the mail man in the window & write some note: "THIS MAILS DO NOT BELONG HERE! PLS RETURN TO SENDER". Or "THIS PO BOX NO. NOW BELONGS TO________________".

I get the mail of a guy who has 8 companies, their QTel bills, and bank statements.
He has 3 Million in one account, and 127k in another.
2 years back when I left my job I decided to have my own post box. I went to Q-Post near Teyseer in Airport but they were full then I went to Lulu Hypermarket & within less than 10 minutes I got a special number for me & the best thing in that is I dont need to bend down for it. The young Qatari Boy Mubarak or Muhammad was very nice & cheerful to me & my experience was very pleasant. The only thing that bothers me that the previous owner Mr. Tamer's (of HMC) all Qtel bills, Bank statements, Kahramaa bills & other paper stuff come to me & despite complaining to the staff over there & calling this person to change his post box in his respective places he pays no heed. Previously it used to boil my blood but now I simply when see his mails, just tear them & throw in Q-post side corner ehehehe.

CONFUSE ............ if you cannot convince!
May be somebody has taken "Meaningful" for a nice ride along cornice :)
you can do it in any branch that has mail boxes section! Just fill-up the form pay the annual fee, get the key & that's it!
Just be practical, look for nearest Post Office branch near your place and then subscribe from there.

I didn't waste my time going to the Main office. I just went to the branch office & completed the procedures in 10 minutes.
no you cannot just go to any post branch and ask for a box, you have to go to main office and apply where u want to have it if its muntaza, old aiport ,lulu ..but applying you have to apply from main office. i went to many branches and get the same answer that i have to go apply in main office. better to use ur friends or ur work places box , its a headache applying new one

dweller: they're opening locations all over
Doha.
The main PO is full, and all boxes are allocated. They basically wait for someone to be delinquent on their payment for a while before re-allocating the box, then you get all their mail. ;P
The original P.O. boxes (spread around Doha) were closed and keys recovered when the new Post Office opened.
Can I assume that they are now re-opening the original locations?
Oh ok, so we can go to any QPost Branch & set up a P.O Box if they have one available?
I thought we could only set it up from the main branch, but also thought they could tell me where there were free boxes! Hmmm! Thanks for your suggestions! :)
Simply go to the other Qpost Branches scattered around Doha. I use the one located at Al Meera Muntazza.
I have one similar problem too. i used the box of an employee there, he insist i use it. i didn't know it was a tool box bec he's a plumber :D
I tried to get one of those boxes, but it was so hard that I thought for a while that they actually come with gold or something really good inside!
After a while I found out what people do now, they use the Boxes of their friends, no probs.
I use the box of my cousin, which is actually the box of her residence (which is a compound)
So no more complains, we adapt and live with it :)
