I came to Doha from Abu Dhabi. I converted my UAE driving license to Qatar driving license in about 5 minutes time at the Muroor. This happened in March this year.
If you already have a prior driving licence from ur home country, just go to the traffic department in Madinat Khalifa they will do a quick driving test along with eye test and you can get ur licence the same day (take with you passport pictures, letter from sponsor,ID card and money in credit or debit card they do not accept cash)
go to a driving school and they will asses your capabilty to drive, if you will pass and have the proper documentation required, then they can schedule you a driving test with the traffic police and if you pass that test, then you will be issued a drivers licence. good luck, 99 percent never pass the first try. me myself after seeing the required test will never pass this test. after driving almost 3 decades in the middle east ( I have a drivers license for the gcc country) i dont think i can pass that test without attending their driving school to learn the techniques they employ on the driving test.
