Not your usual prep and setup question

Hello All :)

Moving to Doha on January 3rd.

We have two custom motorcycles we'd like to bring over. Hoping someone here might have any info on bringing in bikes but my REAL question is this.....

My wifes bike is pretty wild, she's smoking hot AND she has flaming red hair. She stops traffic in Miami!

Wondering how this is (or isn't) going to play in Doha......

Thoughts??

Back on Bikes in Doha,

Hoping a MC Rider can tell me if Doha has a helmet and/or eye protection law? Seems to be helmets as I've yet to see a rider without one.. True?

Miami employs a total lack of courtesy throughout with truly horrible decision making. Doha seems to be primarily the dive into roundabout and a casual approach to lanes. Of the two, Doha is far better in my mind.

Well.. after 3 days in Doha, heres my take on the driving. Yup, the landrover through the roundabout is about the "gutsiest move I've ever seen Mav".

Have to say though, once clear of the roundabout most everybody plays nice! thus far, driving in Doha is actually far more civil than Miami!!

Will say thoughm traffic at Salwa intersection is a bit of ... a personal growth experience...

Well I'll let you come here and drive around a bit before I comment on the driving here. ;)

You might be surprised!! Miami was voted the States "most rude city to drive in" so I'm thinking it might have been a good training ground. What happens more often with a chopper anyways, low and slow is way more fun and the fact that it's gal on a bike tends to make you hyper-visible instead of invisible. The real danger is they're so busy staring at her they tend to run into the guy in front of them..

Send us a pm after January and we'll take a scoot about once the bikes are shipped, they're actually easier to ride than you think! ;) ;)

I wish! Always wanted to, but then I moved here, and it's trying enough to drive here, much less ride a bike. Someday though I hope. :)

Gotcha... no worries then now that I know where the basic borders are ;) ;) Thx!

Do you ride as well?

LOL. It's an adjustment, but she'll get used to it. And of course by conservative I mean no cleavage, pants below the knees, no tummy, etc. Believe me they're cracking down on the dress code here so she doesn't want to bring unnecessary attention to herself.

Olive, thats perfect, THANK YOU!!

Thanks San, yeah I'm actually posting this lightheartedly and to answer RMS "yup!!" ;)

But Brit, you hit the nail on the head. Granted we usually go with a bit over bikini but its actually a real concern. Both She and the bike cause a LOT of attention here in the States..

I'm worried obviously about driving restrictions, hoping riding solo isn't off limits as she's fiercely independent and a talented rider. She's the one that talked me into getting back into bikes (rode and raced for years) and refused to consider riding on the back. In fact neither bike is built to handle a passenger and I'm not sure my kidneys could handle the rabbit punches er .."advice" from her even if it did.

And then theres the obvious cultural concern. As she does cause a lot of attention no matter what she's wearing I'm not sure how that would be perceived...

Not sure. Here's there facebook page though http://www.facebook.com/pages/Al-Wakrah/Harley-Davidson-of-Qatar/146642776053?v=info#/pages/Al-Wakrah/Harley-Davidson-of-Qatar/146642776053?v=wall

Ask them about the Ladies of Harley group too. It's a "newly" formed Ladies riding group. Probably a good way for your wife to meet some friends. :)

Well you're lucky, a law was just passed a few months ago that actually allows women to ride bikes here in Qatar, before they weren't allowed without special permission.

Not sure about the issues with importing...if they are the same as the cars the bike must be either less then 10 or more then 30 years old. I suggest you google the Harley store here and ask them, they should know everything.

As for your wife attracting attention, she will no matter what, however as long as she dresses conservatively she can't be arrested. But my guess is she'll be harassed by every douchebag with a land cruiser is Qatar.

You better keep her in Kentucky. Lots of red haired women there. She will not have a problem. And you not either.

We could do with a bit of colour in Doha. Assuming she is riding using her leathers rather than a bikini you will be fine.

Both can be used for riding! ;)

If she stops traffic in Miami then my suggestion is don't bring her here, I can do without a heart attack... My heart is very weak when it comes to stunning women ;)
