Saw the article below in last nights Peninsula. I live and work in Qatar and have a QID card. My relatives and friends sometime come to visit me here for a holiday, and get a tourist visa on arrival at the airport. Now that the rules have changed, how do they obtain a tourist visa, as they will be staying with me in my Villa while they are here, and not in a hotel.

DOHA • A recent directive from the Ministry of Interior has seen a change in requirements for a traveller to receive a tourist visa for Qatar.

According to the new guidelines which came into effect a matter of days ago, a person wishing to visit Qatar as a tourist visitor must show QR5,000 in cash or its foreign currency equivalent. Failing that, an internationally-valid credit card must be shown.

The traveler will also have to show a hotel voucher, according to tourism industry sources here. The rule came into effect from July 27, they said.

The visa fees start at QR55 and vary depending upon the length of stay here.

As per rules, visitors on tourist visas must fly in using Qatar Airways. They should also have tickets or documents for onward travel. Passports have to be valid for a minimum of six months before expiry.

there is slight difference between tourist visa , business visa and visit visa . According to my opinion visit visa is far better in all temporary visa's because if a company is hiring a candidate having visit visa with intention for applying work visa for him/her they can do it easily but the candidate must have to go outside the country anywhere and again have to enter on work visa ....Visit visa is extendable for more than 6 months hardly 8 months i guess by paying monthly staying fee...hope the question is answered

In Dubai, you can enter on a visit visa with the intention of searching for a job. Upon finding a job, your sponsor can apply for a work visa. Is this applicable in Qatar?

Your response "Actually no problems with visit visa. The little changes are with the TOURIST visa, so no probs there!" isn't what the article says.

This is the second thread on this subject, can they be consolidated?

The Ministry of Interior never sends releases. In fact, have to dig everywhere to find the info.

Efforts were made, of course, everything has to be done thru their PR dept. Tragically, the man who is the be all ane all there had no idea either as he was yukking it up on his French vacation.

Perhaps some journalist-type can help explain this! That's what journalists should do, not take a press relaease, print it and ask no questions about it!

That's where all the confusion lies and no one can really figure it out. Let's not forget the business visa as well.

What we're told the difference is one can transfer to a job visa with one or the other. Actually the whole thing is very confusing and the Interior Ministry is pretty much the last people who can sort out the tangle!

perhaps some cop type here can help us sort the mess out!

What is the difference, the e-gov website http://www.e.gov.qa/eGovPortal/visaservice/visaservicedetails.jsp?ServicePortal=VV refers to them both as a Tourist Visa.
