By greenfield

Hi Everyone

I would like to know if anyone has any up to date information about the new QP Primary and Secondary schools being built in Mesaieed.

Has anyone been able to enroll their children in this school yet?

Is the school going to be ready in time for the start of the new school year in September?

Any information at all would be very welcome.

The news seems to be that visas have been obtained for all staff.

Also there is a good chance that primary SMT will be going out this term to open boxes, move chairs/tables, make plans and possibly lay a few bricks in order to get the building finished!!

If it works out then I will be in touch with you, and all the other staff, ossy.

Good news - Reports are that building work is going well and that visa applications are being steadily processed with most completed.

I'm working there too. I know very little about the whole operation, apart from a 30 min chat with the Head of the Secondary Department(who seemed like a capable guy) and their contracts guy in London.

My understanding is that enrollment has started and is proceeding quite fast. There have been 32 teachers employed in the Secondary Department. They will arrive in August for a September start. The two schools being opened are part of a development which will include a series of schools. Most of the other buildings will also be finished in September, and will be given over for use by the local schools until such times as enrollment at the QP is sufficient to justify their use.

I have just taken the medical, and am awaiting the results before finalising the contract. The only thing that is really puzzling me is the living arrangements. At interview, I was told that I would live in QP housing, but I note on the contract that I will only get this for 4 months, before being given an allowance to find my own. From what I gather from others here, the allowance of 4000 a month is insufficient to allow me to find a place. I will probably wait until after the medical before contacting QP with any more queries.

The school building is not yet finished but staff have been recruited for a September start.

I understand that there will be both a primary and a secondary department. They will both operate an Engish curriculum.

The headteacher and senior staff are in Qatar now starting to sort out things for September.

Visa permiting, I will be working at the school.

I hope this is useful to you.

Thanks Victoria, good idea. I went to the Qatalum site and they do say that a school is being constructed in Mesaieed.

Novita 77, I read in one thread that your husband travels to Mesaieed daily. Does he have any current information on the construction of the school? Are their any construction workers working on it at the moment or has construction  been halted or delayed?

Thanks

The best thing is to call QP and ask them. Even better maybee... contact Qatalum, www.qatalum.com, they should know since they will have a lot of staffs kids in that school.

The school is planned to be ready for schoolstart in september, that is what I have heard.

Good Luck
