.........i will suggest to buy a second hand car.....with mileage under 50,000kms.......and under warranty.........go to classifieds section and u will find many such cars.......and one more thing..........go for Japanese cars only......Toyota, Honda, Nissan or Mitsubishi............CHEERS!!......:o)

Well it depends on how long you are planning to stay.

It also depends on what car you want to buy.

The best choice is always a new car, but if you are staying for one or two years only, you would loose a lot when trying to sell it!

If you plan to stay for more than two years (3-5), then without question, go for a new car as long as it fits your budget.

With 1,500 QR/month, you can get all types of 1600CC Japanese cars (Toyota, Nissan, Honda & Mitsubishi) and may even get some Korean 2000CC cars (Kia & Hyundai).

If you plan to get a 4X4 SUV, then that money will never get you a new car. You can go for a used type.

Usually USA made SUV's will be cheaper than Japanese. But their quality and value will always be below Japanese made cars.

If you go for a used model, try not to aim for anything used more than two years(around 30,000-40,000km) and preferably used by a female.

NEVER use cars owned by people working in construction and go with their cars to their work places.

Cars still under warranty are also preferable...

Hope that helps...

New car is always better. But it depends how long u will be working in qatar , if its a short term job..i would suggets go for a seconhand car..japnese cars are good as the maintenance cost is less compared to American or european cars

Sis,

If you want Minimum Headache and a peace of mind for the next 4 years then I suggest that you buy a new vehicle. However, there is a lot of 2nd hand vehicles here with low mileage and still under warranty that you could consider if you are on a tight budget.

Cheers,

Buying a new car is a better option instead of a second hand car but go for Japanese cars as resale values are higher.
