Need Fast Answers:Schools being full

Hi all,

I'm new to the site but have just gone through tons of the forum postings.

Choice of schools is something I consider the most important of preparations for this move to Qatar. I am very concerned about this idea that schools are full. Can people please give some more specifics on this very serious topic? For example, is this a general condition in ALL the schools there or just certain ones? Does it seem to happen in the lower grades vs the older grades (or anything like that?)? Does it matter if you are looking at an IB school vs a non-IB school?

Lastly, what are people doing if they cannot get into school??? There must be something that can be done..surely the children have to be educated?

I am very concerned because we will be moving to Doha with a Senior in High School who is halfway through the IB program. If she cannot complete the 2nd half of the program (and I did find that Qatar Academy has the proper curriculum to do so), then I'll recommend that we do not accept the job to my husband. I don't want to ruin the senior year of my daughter after she has worked so hard on the IB diploma.

I also have a son who will be entering the 7th grade.

Please, anyone who has ANY comments about the filling up of the schools OR about the IB program there OR about Qatar Academy--PLEASE post quickly!!!

Thanks!

I am from singapore. Based on your experience.....is it better there in Qatar than in Singapore?

I got a job offer with QP and am very worried about schooling and housing too.

Appreciate any advise you can give me.

Thanks a million.

hi .... i only hear good things about Qatar Academy.

I knows some people decided to delay coming to Qatar because their kids can't get in into any school.

What i can suggest is you coming to Doha for 'look see' visit, have a look some school and show face yourself if you want space for your kid (too many expats coming to Doha, nowadays schools not interested to make any appointment via telephone).

Some people said that there would lots of spaces in schools after the GAMES since there would lots of family leaving.

good luck with your moving, let me know if i can help with anything else

xx
