Moving to Qatar. What papers do I need?

I am moving from Australia to Qatar and I have never travelled as an adult overseas before and would like to know what I need to get in to Qatar. I will be moving to Qatar to work.

So do I need anything in particular to buy the plane tickets apart from my passport? And what will happen once the plane has landed in Qatar. Can I collect my luggage and leave, or do I immediately have a lot of paperwork to fill in once the plane arrives. Sorry I'm new to travelling can someone give me a step by step account of what will happen?

Your employer should be handling the landing visa (for arrival) and your residency visa paper work (after you arrive). Have you asked them what you need? It is unusual too that you are purchasing your plane ticket. Commonly, the employer provides you with your ticket - all you need is a valid passport with at least 6 months to run after your date of arrival. Additionally, usually the employer sends you a copy of the landing visa for presentation at immigration once you arrive (and for presentation at the airline where you board your flight to Qatar).

Suggest strongly you contact your employer and ask them these questions.

Your HR department should provide you with everything from your ticket to your visa prior to your coming. They should also arrange for you to be met at the airport and taken through immigration and baggage collection and then driven to your accomodations. If this hasn't been arranged then please check again with them.
