Please can anyone advise if you can buy propanolol over the counter in qatar? It's a beta blocker, which I'm prescribed. All of my bloods and chest x ray are fine, but I'm worried that my prescription will complicate or mean me failing my medical , despite me being fit. Thank you.
Thank you for your replies. Please let me explain. I am on propanolol for a tremor. I've been on it for years. All of my blood tests and chest x-ray are normal as part of my medical for my visa. As yet, I've not been asked specifically about prescribed medication. I am just worried, that when I get to Qatar, I may have problems getting a prescription for propanolol, or that I might not be deemed medically fit because of being prescribed medication. Is it ok from a medical perspective, if you are prescribed some medications?
It is a prescription medicine. You need, legally speaking, a prescription for it to obtain it. However, it is not a psychotropic medicine you can still get it in some pharmacies (they sell some medications even if they are prescription).
If you feel like having any acute problem, then it is best to come to the emergency room. You did not mention why you were prescribed the medicine.
If all the tests you mentioned are fine, then you won't fail. As far as I know, they don't check your complete lipid profile or ask you if you're taking beta blockers... And no, you can't buy it over the counter. If you were prescribed before, consult your dr in Qatar and inquire if there's a need to take more.
