Is it possible to work privately in Qatar?
Hi - My husband may be taking a job in Qatar. If we move there, I am thinking I might like to take on some private work. Is private work allowed in Qatar?
I am a therapist, and I have found clear information on how to become registered in Qatar, but no clear guidance on whether I could work privately. My main aim is to keep my skills up rather than earn a living, so definitely not looking to set up a formal business.
Many thanks, Sarah
...that is great info and it sounds quite positive. Really helpful to know about the PRO's too.
Many thanks.
As a private therapist, you can work at home.
Again, if you are a registered, then you can charge more amount and work freely.
I recommend you submit your certificates and get the approval to work
No you can't - in order to work in any capacity in Qatar you need a sponsor and be registered with the Min of Labour. In your case, probably the Min of Health too.
Anyone taking in $$ for services rendered has to be registered. I don't know exactly how that works with a spouse sponsored by her husband, but I doubt if you would be allowed to work for yourself - that would mean a Qatari business owner/sponsor wouldn't be earning their "share" of your labour. In order to set yourself up I would think a Qatari sponsor is required at least
The PRO at your husband's company should be able to give you some advice in this respect. An inquiry at the Ministry of Health might be informative too.
Yes you can
