Importing a Ferrari/Lambo from the U.A.E
I'm very interested in purchasing a Ferrari 599 or a Lamborghini LP640 but both of the dealerships in Qatar have given me ridiculous excuses about waiting lists and demand a hefty deposit. I have been in Doha for a few weeks now and I am very tired of my rental car company and want something with a little more spice without waiting 5-8 months.
As I shopped around I noticed there are beautiful '0' mileage sports cars in Dubai and Abu Dhabi at dealerships that are ready for immediate sale (no waiting, no deposit :D). What's even more interesting is that they are relatively cheaper than what the dealership quoted me and what the 2nd hand showrooms down Salwa Road are offering.
Basically, what would be the paperwork required to purchase and import such a car. I sure as hell am not driving it back :) Of course, I would go to the U.A.E to inspect the car before laying down any cash, but are these dealerships reputable? Finally, I've seen some beautiful cars in this amazing country, so I was wondering which do you prefer, a red Ferarri 599 or a pearl white Lamborghini LP640. Both are around the same price range, but I'm really leaning towards the Lambo.
Thank you :)
I imported my KIA from the UAE.. it had extras not available in Qatar ; Like the fake air scoop..

hi do7a,
any update?! did u manage to get to uae and look at a possible car?
Last I checked with the Doha dealers I could service and maintain the car there but there would be no chance of a warranty, and I'm fine with that. I believe servicing costs would be the same as a car purchased through them, but don't quote me on that.
What about service and maintenance? I'm not aware of any independent service centers for exotic rides. You could register the car with the Doha dealer for which I think they charge cut throat rates!
Thanks northernlad, I'm looking forward to getting it too, I spoke to some people who provide a lorry service with insurance to bring it here and getting it registered in Doha is a simple task as the car is new and bought in the GCC. Now the hard part is just going to the U.A.E and finding the perfect car.
Not sure about the paperwork, but the LP640 is an amazing car. Looks and sounds fantastic. Ok, the Lambo has some Volkswagen parts on it, but its whats under the bonnet and how it looks that matters.
Pearl white? wow! Looks good in gunmetal gray also.
Look forward to seeing it cruising up Al Wabb.
