How/where can I get natural wood items government certified as pest-free for move to Canada?
By calobarrio •
I am moving soon from Doha to Canada. I have a collection of driftwood pieces that will need to be certified here in Qatar as sanitary and pest-free before I can ship them. I am assuming this would be done within the ministry of environment or agriculture? Any info on who/where would be appreciated... Cindy
Usually what is needed to import wood furniture and similar to Canada is a certificate of "fumigation" that normally (at least for commercial purposes) after having been completed is stamped by a particular Qatari government body (can't remember if it is the Chamber of Commerce (who certify that the company who has done this is legitimate) or the Dept of Agriculture.
Strongly suggest you get in touch with Agriculture Canada and ASK THEM what documents are required. I've only dealt with import for commercial purposes - don't know exactly for domestic use.
