How much does a leasehold cost in off city areas like waqrah. I am not talking about close to beach ones...

Also is it only villas or apartments also??

Are they available now ready for posssession or only ones in lusail are ready??

A leasehold is a form of buying.

When I bought my apartment in the UK, they gave me a leasehold, that's all I could get.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to change the subject, but at least delta1 was able to get what he needed.

Take care.

with complete respect. I know also what am talking about and it seems you took the discussion in a different direction. We were talking about buying and you introduced leasing.

Am sure you know what you are talking about. But wonder if you know what we were talking about.

I believe this thread has gone off course.

I am not going to BUY property, I need to RENT a villa in Wakra for a minimum of 2 years. The 2 year minimum must be able to be extended to a probable 5 - 6 years, or possibly more.

Thanks for all the responses, feedback, and opinions. Nothing said here is not read or taken into account, so thank you all.

@kellysheros.

yes and I'm talking about buying, that's Land Law 101 in University.

Forever doesn't mean forever. You own something for 99 years which is perpetually renewed.

This is called Leasehold. This usually applies to apartments.

Qatar uses Leasehold for all property for foreign investors.

Leasehold contracts can sometimes be as long as 999 years, however 99 years is the international standard.

I am a lawyer and my focus is environmental and corporate contract law so I think I know what I'm talking about.

I know Scotland doesn't have the 'leasehold' system, for a start - not sure what they call their system there. Feudal?

Well that's what we call it in UK. It is when you buy a property but another person owns the land it is built on.

For instance a Leasehold property can have a lease as long as, say, 999 years, but at the end of that time the property reverts to the Freeholder.

So if someone buys a property with a 99 year lease, if the Freeholder doesn't want to extent the Lease after or within that time, the Leaseholder no longer has the property.

I sold a couple of Properties I own the Freehold of, in the UK. The purchasers each have a 99 year Lease, but they have to pay me ground rent every year.

No it is not almost every country in the world. The thread owner was asking about buying. The 99 years contracts are not considered buying.

@kelly, the 99year lease applies to almost every country in the world. Including the US and the UK. (It is subject to perpetual renewal though)

Expatriates cannot buy property in Wakra. Only most of Doha, Pearl, Lagoon and Lusail city.

And it is not purchase, it is a 99-years right to use contract (usufruct)

I am looking for a stand alone villa. Near or on the beach. At least 4 bedrooms. I have been to Villas and compounds in Doha, and really do not like it. I do not want a villa in the city. I am in Doha now, living in hotels. I have transportation and a phone.

Please help me out, anyone that can.

Much Appreciated,

What information specifically?

The location is very nice, peacefull and it's the second largest city in Qatar.

I personally own property there and feel that it's a good investment.

(either than or within Lusail)
