Good areas to live in Doha

Hiya!

Can anyone give me ideas for good areas of Doha. We're a family of 4, w+h+2 girls under 3 and would like a 3br villa. (Based on the understanding a villa would provide some much needed private outdoor playspace?!)

Many thanks.

Hi, my husband was over there from Australia on the weekend looking for housing. He suggested Al Waab, Al Rayyan and Al Gharrafa were good areas. Given your girls are under 3 it might be a few years before they start school so choosing somewhere to live based on where they go to school might be a bit early. If you look for somewhere to live close to work, you can always move when the girls are older and you have chosen a school too far away. We are also moving from Australia in the next 6-7 weeks and have a young one as well, so I know all too well what your going thru. Good luck!! (p.s when you have activated personal messager i'll make contact, where in Australia are you coming from? etc). Have a good weekend!

It's all depends where kids go to school and where you work. Even in these 2 scenarios I would prefer live close to school. You can drive long distances but it will be unfair to children to go to home/school after long commute. I would suggest to choose school first and then residence.... BTW I am also working on same plan :)

Where you live depends largely on where you will be working and/or where the girls will be in school. I would not recommend living in Al Waab unless your work/school are there - there is a LOT of traffic/congestion. I avoid going over there unless entirely necessary, and even then I combine three or four errands to get it all over and done with in one day.

If you enable your private messages feature you may find that people are willing to send you other information as well. There will be some nutters who PM you wanting to be your "loyal servant" and garbage like that, but just delete those messages :)

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help :)

Welcome, in advance, to Doha!

hi,

we live in muaither (5 mins from villagio / al wabb) in a compound. we have a 3 bedroom villa, and are a family of 4. ( 2 young kids) there are lots of families of our age in the compound and there are free villas if you want me to send you the email and number of landlord.

Yes, Al Waab is a good area. Easy access to Salwa Road, Al Sadd and Villagio. Having said that, there are other good areas like Ain Khalid, and Landmark Mall area (specifically the villas behind Landmark), I do not know the exact name of that place.

Al Waab Area; you can find several compounds with nice villa, swimming pool, club house, gym and a space for children.

Cheers
