Dear friends,
we are moving to Doha shortly. 1. Which 3* or 4* hotel would you suggest for staying in city area for the first few weeks? Is there any links to search ?My hisband is coming alone first.
2. Which phone connection or cell sim card should we take to start with ?
3. We are moving from Singapore. SO pl. give your suggestions about living there. Will the phone , cable tv, internet all be available in a bundle scheme like we get here?
4. Which Bank will you suggest to open ?

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

When hotel or qatar airways arranges a visit visa,

how long can we avail? I am told that it is only valid for a month? Can I not get it extended? Can I stay in the house and avail hotel arranged visa?

I will have to be in visit visa till my husband gets RP. So can I stay continuously, if I come on visit visa for 2 or 3 months and get it converted to a family visa or dependent visa?

Please explain. Thanks in advance.

1 - There are a few short term options in West Bay. Try Ezdan Suites (not great quality, but central with good facilities...fine for short stay) Retaj Hotel have a selection for short term also. Both have studio's, one and two beds, I think budget around 10,000 for a month.

2 - Pick up a Q-tel sim and Hala card (pay as you go) at the Airport

3 - Bundles are available, only a couple of options and readily available. Q-tel have offers.

4 - No bank really stands out. HSBC and QNB have never caused me issues, though some won't agree. Commercial Bank is ok, as is Mashreq.

Hope that helps!! Good luck!
