Flying flat nosed dogs from Australia to Doha
Hoping for information on shipping flat nosed dogs from Australia to Doha.
We are having trouble getting relocation of our two flat nosed dogs (brussels griffon's)sorted. I undertand that Emirates has a no flat nosed dogs policy so we can use Qantas to get them to Dubai but from there we are not sure how to get them over to Doha.
Can anyone please provide information on how we could overcome this hurdle? Are there other airlines that can fly pets between Dubai and Doha? Are these airlines ok with flat nosed dogs? Is there reliable, secure and safe land/road freighting of dogs from Dubai to Doha.
Has anyone out there done this before with flat nosed dogs Aus to Doha?
As you know the flat-nosed (brachycephalic) dogs are prone to dehydration. I thought that this was the reason why some airlines will not transfer them. From the airline perspective they want a dog that can be treated as cargo - ie. survive with no food or water during transport, and a dog that isn't so big and aggressive that it might smash its cage and run havoc in the cargo hold (apparently has happened b4).
I'd like to move my french bulldogs to Doha, but if they went in cargo they I suspect they wouldn't survive the trip. If they were stuck for an hour on the tarmac in 40 degree heat, they'd be finished for sure.
I'll be looking for a good pet travel service - did you find one (AOWN)?
Qatar Vet Centre have a full staff for relocations - as a fellow Aussie I can totally vouch for their experience and kind assistance - nothing is too much trouble!
We moved our Maltese from Dubai to Doha and they took care of all the paperwork and transporting her - all we had to do was cough up and collect her in the baggage area when we arrived. It was all done and dusted and no probs!
The vets and assistants are either from Oz or NZ with a mix of other country specialists. They all speak real English so there are no communication problems either. Everyone is very helpful!
If you need help, send me a private message. Lived here 3 yrs now so have the heads up on most stuff!
Good luck :)
Ah! Lucky you :)
Thanks for the heads up Harnam. Just checked and lucky this particular breed is allowed. Thanks again
As far as I know, most of the snub nose breeds are banned in Doha! So even if the airlines are ready, they won't let you in here at the airport. You can check with Qatar vet if your breed of dog is allowed here or not.
Thank you
We're potentially making the move. I contacted these for advice. They may be able to help you too.

Good luck.
Check and/or coordinate with travel agents and this is part of their job to satisfy the requirements of the passengers.
Welcome to Qatar.
