Dual Voltage in bathrooms?

I have been told that most new apartments in Doha have dual voltage systems in the bathrooms. Is this true? I am moving to Doha from USA soon and wanted to know if my flat iron would work there.

The bathroom outlit is only for very low wattage items like a shaver or phone charger. You can buy a transformer, but for high wattage items like a flat iron, you would need a fairly large one. It may be easier just to buy a new iron here. BTW, you may find that many of your electonic items (especially those with a power brick) are dual voltage. Just check the back of the unit or go on line to check the specs.

hi cool qatar

when we find dual voltage in the bathrooms ,it is only for either 1- shaving machine or 2- hair drier machine.you can't use the iron from that outlet, because the iron needs more watts.if u want to use any appliances that is 120v ,u can buy a transformer from 240v to 120v and put it in any location in your house ,so u can use your 12v stuf .

Err, actually there are NO electrical outlets in any of the bathrooms here! Funny, I know, but you get used to it. Dual voltage? You're lucky if you get one.

Yes - my bathroom has a dual voltage outlet for 120V and 230V. You may want to check that your place is new though because I haven't seen this type of outlet anywhere else. I live in Zig Zag Towers
