to convert to a Qatari driving licence you will have go to a driving school to either ask to be given a date of the nearest test or take a 12 hour driving course which is more recommended

the test consists of:

1-road signs test

2-up and down the hill with a reverse L turn

3-parking

4-driving in the streets test (3-4 minutes only)

once you pass a test it will not be repeated when you finsh them all you can get the driving licence in the same day it costs 255QR and is valid for 5 years

you can get an automatic driving licence if you wish by going to the traffic department at almarkhiah and an officer will sign your file their

good luck

Hi,

International license from india is not valid here, So ur frd can only get his license through driving school either have to go for direct test or can take 7 days training.

To be honest I would not give any Indians driving licenses until they proove that they know the following:-

1) how to drive in the RIGHT side of the the road.

2) how to change lanes using an INDICATOR.

3) having passed a written test on ROAD MANNERS and especially the HIGHWAY CODE.

4) to look .BEHIND them before changing lanes.

5) no man/woman under the age of 40 who does not at least 20 years experience in driving.

6) How to apply brakes properly at traffic light whithout endangering the person in front (crashing them)

6) I would do the same for all others nations who are driving left hand drive system, more over I would not let Qataris drive until they reach 60.

Haii.. Its not possible to use or to convert Indian licence directly to Qatar Driving licence with out any driving test. Even its International licence too...The only reason is the two countries is using different driving strategy.

It will be better to join for a 12hrs class in any driving school here and attend the test. It will cost you around 1200QR. I do not suggest a direct test. Because you will learn whats the real driving in these days. Because its saying with my experience even I had some rally / race experiences in India and I learned a lot new things from the school and how to drive here.

Hope you got a clear idea about it.

Best of luck.
