Driver's licence??

Hello all,

I know there has been a lot of talk about driver's license's here on the forum but, I haven't seen anyone with this question.

I have a danish driver's license so no problem to convert to Qatari license. My wife, however, does not yet have any drivers license. She will have to start from scratch when we come to Qatar. We wanted to do it here in Singapore but, I have heard that Qatar will not accept a license that is issued by a different country from where your passport is from. Ie. she's Norwegian and would then hold a Singaporean license.

Anybody knows about this? After reading about driving schools in Qatar I would much prefer for my wife to get the license here in Singapore before we move.

Cheers, Cargodog...

Thanks guys,

And especially thank you Singcat. Since you're from Singapore you should know the difference so I guess she'll wait and do it in Qatar then.

Appreciate all the inputs...

Get your licence at Qatar. It is easy to do it at Qatar. After some 20 odd lessons, your wife then take the test.

It is more difficult to get a licence in SIN.I am from SIN.

Good luck

license should be from the country of passport holder...

Docjay is right it still possible to be bend the rules here especially fluid rules like license permits rules

I hear it is harder to get exceptions and the officers are tougher in exams but to every rule its exceptions and qatar is not immune

Only some licenses are recognised for transfer to Qatari license. I dont believe the Singapore license is one of them. So your wife would have to do a driving test at least and if she fails would have to take some lessons.
