Dogs in Qatar

Hi everyone, first post and I tried the search facility without much luck (but I am a technophobe as it is).
I am currently weighing up a chance to move out to Doha for work but the only tie I have in the UK is a fairly big Newfoundland dog (hopefully the picture comes through below).
Are dogs welcome in Doha or will he make a social pariah? I know there is a large British ex-pat community out there, do many of you have dogs and how have you found it with them?
Apologies again if this has been answered before.

Brought 3 dogs over with no hassle. Theyre enjoying there new life.
Walking off the lead is really out of town and at beaches but no issue really.
Molting will be a big issue until they get used to the heat.

@Cartel... You will need to find a living area where the community is more accepting of dogs in general. Western compounds are a good place to start with.
They have some established Pet Clinics but are they well trained in handling specific breed? I'm not sure. In case you need to do a short travel, there are a few pet hotels for you to send to.
We love dogs out here. Dogs are a man's best friend.
Many thanks for the replies, I have bookmarked the blog and have now just this second been accepted into the dog walking group on Facebook.
Thanks again for the help.

I can only refer you to Dogs in Doha, a rescue team.
They may give you advice on how to bring a dog to Doha.
Good luck.
