Does anyone have any recommendations for shipping agents to ship personal effects back to the US?

After 5-1/2 yrs in Doha I've decided it's finally time to head back home. I'd appreciate any recommendations that anyone might have for an agent to ship my things home to USA by sea. I'd also appreciate any advice on how to pack and whether it's possible to pack without having somebody unpacking everything to inspect it. I'd also like some guidance on what sort of container to pack everything in (assuming that carboard boxes wouldn't make it) or does the shipper provide a crate if there isn't enough to fill a half container?
